Genetic Counseling

As many as 15-20% of ovarian type cancers are now thought to have a genetic component. Genetic counseling is available before, during, or after a person is diagnosed with cancer.

You may be eligible for genetic counseling if you have been diagnosed with epithelial, tubal, and peritoneal cancers, even in the absence of a family history. In addition, women who have been diagnosed with endometrial cancer should undergo systematic and or molecular screening for Lynch syndrome.

*Peritoneal and fallopian tube cancers should be considered as part of the spectrum of the Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer Syndrome.
