Cristina Wheeler
RN
Cristina arrived in Anchorage with her children in May 2019 to join her husband who is an Air Force officer and critical care nurse stationed at the JBER Hospital. Prior to becoming a nurse, Cristina earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Social Work and spent the majority of her career serving clients in skilled nursing facilities, dialysis centers, and home health settings. At this point, she decided to earn a nursing degree to assist her community even more. While in school, she worked for a nonprofit organization assisting families whose children were in need of a bone marrow or solid organ transplant and eventually served as a Patient Care Associate on a blood cancer unit. This is where she fell in love with the Oncology specialty and transitioned into an RN position on the same floor upon graduation. Cristina is excited that she is able to bring her degrees of social work and nursing together to serve the patients at Alaska Women’s Cancer Care. Outside of work, Cristina enjoys spending time with her husband, three daughters, family, and friends who venture to visit the great Alaskan Frontier!
